Song for Boston

– April 17th 2013 – I have decided to change the name of the song to “Stand Tall Stand Proud.” The name change was suggested by Patty Fitts Charlton. Thank you. It made me think a little. “Stand Tall Stand Proud” hints at something more positive and just makes more sense. I left the original blog post in tact below.

– April 16th 2013 – I wrote this song “Fucked Up Few” today. April 16th 2013. A day after The Boston Marathon Bombing where a 29 year old woman and an 8 year old boy were killed and 180 people injured, some suffering from loss of limbs. It is such a sad event. I couldn’t help but write a song about how I felt. I hope that we can see the light in the darkness and overcome the culture of hate, fear and disrespect that has gained high ratings and major profits for media outlets, penetrating our hearts and dividing our people. I feel the only way to change those around us, who might do such a thing, is for us to change our selves and become a light in the darkness. This song is for the people of Boston and for the people of the world. Please share this video and click here to DOWNLOAD A FREE COPY OF “Stand Tall Stand Proud”

Here are the Lyrics for the song inspired by the Boston Marathon event. I’m calling it “Fucked Up Few.” Yes there is a swear word in the title. I never ever swear in my songs or on social media. It’s not something I do. However this is the first time I felt I had to write it. I will post a youtube video later this evening with a live performance.

New title “Stand Tall Stand Proud” thanks to Patty Fitts Charlton

To the people of Boston
To the cities of the world
Don’t let the fucked up few
Change what you do

Through the oceans and the seas
Of goodness all around
The fucked up few are just a pebble dropped
Only Love can bring it round

Stand Tall
Stand Proud
Pick your neighbors up if they ever hit the ground

Stand Tall
Stand Proud
We won’t let the fucked up few bring the good folks down

We know there’s a disease
That sleeps inside the mind
Disrespectful fear and hate
The two are intertwined

In order to overcome the fucked up few
Let the light shine from everyone of us
To change their point of view.

Stand Tall
Stand Proud
Pick your neighbors up if they ever hit the ground

Stand Tall
Stand Proud
We won’t let the fucked up few bring the good folks down
